Volunteering Information

VOLUNTEERS:

Pope John Paul II Catholic School follows Archdiocesan policy for the protection of children by requiring the following of all volunteers – including parents - working directly with children:

  1. Sign a Code of Conduct for volunteers
  2. Provide authorization for the school to conduct a criminal background check
  3. Attend a 3 hour training session on keeping children safe in our communities.
  4. You may sign up to attend this training session at www.virtus.org.

 Parents attending field trips are also subject to the above background checks and training sessions.

 

When you see requests for volunteers, please give consideration to being of assistance. Our students and school need you!

 

STAFF CRIMINAL HISTORY BACKGROUND CHECKS

All Employees as well as all school volunteers who have regular or unsupervised contact with minors are subject to criminal background checks. A school may decide not to couduct criminal background checks on school volunteers who do not have regular or unsupervised contact with minors, as well as vendors or independent contractors. At Pope John Paul II Catholic School the following employee positions are subject to mandatory background checks:

¨Full and part time teachers as well as substitute teachers

¨Administrative and Support staff

¨Paraprofessionals:  Extended Day and Teacher’s Aides

¨Athletic Director and volunteer coaches

¨Food Service and Maintenance Personnel
